Lovely Butter Cookies


Used corn flour in new found recipe. Cookies turn out crispy and nice. But see the crackline at the big heart-shaped cookie on the right? Cookie was broken coz i did not wait for the cookies to cool off enuff before shifting to cool on rack..lack of patience & gentleness =p

Mango Mirror =) (=

Did some changes to the recipe from matte orange to gelatin top, as i'd always like cakes with fresh fruits shown on top. It gives me a feelin the cake is 'fresh'


Cake tasted nice. Feedback was the gelatin top's too sweet. Hmm..i'll cut down the overall sugar level next time and probably go for a clearer top too

Earl Grey Chiffon

Saw this recipe from another blog. I like earl grey alot so decided to try on the coming sat. Kitchen was already filled with earl grey frangrance when cake was still baking in oven.

You can see the lil leave bits in whole cake..the taste is refreshing nice. If you like earl grey, you'll love this cake. I love it =)

Gingerbread Man & Woman























Bought new cookie cutters so decided to try out on simple butter cookies. Dough softens very fast so i have to be quick when cutting out into shapes.

Durian Cream Cake

Durian cake in baby green cream

Managed to bake a durian layered cake..yeah!
But i'll still have alot to practise on my cake layering skill. Can see as below, the upper cake layer is much thicker than the lower.
The cake tasted good, was full of durian favour. Each of us had a 2nd serving. And i recieved good comments from my young cousin too.
Baking is like science and the decoration is like a piece of art.
Well, guess i start to understand the rule of chemistry but lack of the artistic touch..keehee

1st Baking Lesson =D

Went for my 1st baking class at last! It was a 1-day lesson and the class size was like over 20pax. We were divided into groups of 2s or 3s. I was teamed up with two other classmates who were nice and fun people =) We went thru rest of the afternoon like school girls back in chemistry lab, busy following teacher's instructions and jotting down notes same time.
At the end of the day, each of us could bring our masterpieces back home..a whole 7" cake and 8pcs buns!

Lol..guess you could never go wrong when you'd followed every step like the teacher. Responses were good from this..whole cake was chocolaty, with a touch of lemon cream and a crispy layer at bottom.

I like these buns myself. Flour texture was just nice and the taste was complimented with bits of raisins and cream cheese inside

Swiss Roll & Cookie

Intend to do Strawberry Swiss roll..did not roll cake layer in time so changed the idea to Strawberry sponge instead. Hubby suggested to add some castor sugar to filling for better taste next time.

This time turns out good but did not add any fruits. Sugar was added to whipped for 'crunchy' bite.

Also made some butter cookies..won some compliments from this ;)

Big Breakfast !!


Okie..made BIG Breakfast for our Sunday brunch. Did the non-fried Scrumbled eggs, light vege salad with rest of combinations. Yummi..yum..we both enjoyed it well and complete the course with tea & coffee.

Durian Butter Cake

Wanted to do Durian layered cake. But due to my ignorance, i made a durian butter cake and started whipping up cream to layer the cake. Tasted alright at first but after fridging, the cake becomes stiff hard under the cream.


Was not sure of the reason why and asked around..did not find the ray of light at that time. I was only enlightened when asked the teacher during my 1-day baking lesson.

Some infor to share if you are a beginner who's reading now..due to texture reason, butter cake cannot be fridged else chiffon cake is alright. Thanks to my i-ls & Irene who'd to try the cake=b

Sushi Session

We went to aunt's house for Japanese dinner. Cousin had attended Japanese course. So she became our cooking teacher for the day. We were all busy making tempura, cold tofu, miso soup & sushi varieties. California sushi was tedious & rewarding..we had fun mixing the ingredients.

Orange Marble Cake ~~

See the burnt out cake below? It was a silly mistake..keehee As a beginner, i have totally no idea on the different flour types, mixing method or even the touch of feel on the relevant temperature range. Everything went on well til i read the instructed temperature wrong..oven was all smoky when i retrieved my cake..lolxx

At last, my orange marble cake was successful. Kept few pieces for our parents and rest was finished within the day. Cousin even asked for more servings =)

Tiramisu

Miss the rich & creamy 'house specialty' tiramisu that only some Italian restaurants offer..most cafes or restaurants go for factory mass produce nowadays. Did some research on recipe and tried out the 1st time. Turns out to be too strong in liquor and texture is too soft

Tried another time..finally turns out well and compliments from family & some relatives.
Decided to prepare for
our 'Bro & Sis Thank you' party..this time making in small little cups with fresh strawberry toppings. Some friends gave good comments except Ade who finds it too sweet..lolx. Forgot to take some pics on the cute lil tiramisus..blog was never on my mind at that time

The Beginning...

I was never a good cook. Thus decided to start off with something i like and simple handling for breakfast, Homemade Benedict Eggs. Coz it's sort of a last minute decision, we could not find the round biscuit bun at supermart..ended up using Guardinia square bread.

Well, i sorta fall in love with baking since i started using my new oven few months ago =) Thus, though i'll start off to share on my baking journal.
